Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing

sung by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir

-=-=-=-

10/26/10

People who know me well know that I am sometimes emotional and
very sentimental and that I have a tendency to cry (that I expect I
inherited from my mother) . No, I don't cry a river of tears (except
when I'm REALLY upset or the first time I watched
"The Boy in the Striped Pajamas") my eyes usually just get
glossy and my throat closes up a bit. I'm prone to tears while
watching sad films as I mentioned before and when
listening to emotive music and I find this particular hymn
quite moving.

I love the original music video but I love Fred Astaire even more ^_^

Violin Concerto, No. 3: "Strassburg" K. 216, 3rd Movement

composed by W.A. Mozart, as used in the film "Master and Commander"

This movie ALMOST made me puke, true story. It was really early in the morning (by really early in the morning I mean 1-2am) and I was pretty out of it and a certain very bloody scene involving limbs being chopped off made me gag ^_^

Jungle Drum

by Emiliana Torrini

Duel of the Fates from "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace"

composed by the great John Williams

This is the suckiest part of the movie (WHY DID LIAM NEE... I mean Qui-Gon... HAVE TO DIE?!?!?!?!) but the music makes the terrible blow a little less painful.

My Body is a Cage

by Arcade Fire

this song is amazing on its own but when paired with Sergio Leone's masterpiece "Once Upon a Time in the West" it's absolutely magnificent ^_^

Brazil from "The Eddy Duchin Story"

played by Carmen Cavallaro with Tyrone Power as Eddy Duchin

I feel like I have a million variations of this song on my iPod but I can't help loving them all ^_^

Dizzy Fingers from "The Eddy Duchin Story"

played by Carmen Cavallaro with Tyrone Power as Eddy Duchin

A schmaltzy film but Power is gorgeous and the music is fantastic.
It's the kind of movie I watch when I'm hormonal
and I feel like sitting in my pjs crying while stuffing
myself with dark chocolate and milk chocolate toblerone.

The Parting Glass

as used in the film "Waking Ned Devine" sung by Shaun Davey

*picture doesn't change or move so feel free to scroll to your hearts content

I absolutely adore this song, no regrets and the love of friends makes parting more sweet than sorrowful ^_^

All the money that e'er I had
I spent it in good company
And all the harm I've ever done
Alas it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit
To memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Goodnight and joy be to you all

Of all the comrades that e'er I had,
They're sorry for my going away,
And all the sweethearts that e'er I had,
They wish me one more day to stay
But since it falls unto my lot
that I should rise while you should not,
I gently rise and softly call,
"Goodnight and joy be with you all"

(additional stanza not included in this version)
Oh, If I had money enough to spend
And leisure time to sit awhile
There is a fair maid in this town
That sorely has my heart beguiled
Her rosy cheeks and ruby lips
She alone has my heart in thrall
So fill to me the parting glass
Goodnight and joy be with you all

The Sacred War

sung by The Russian Red Army Choir

Rise up, huge country,
Rise up for a mortal fight!
With the dark fascist force,
With the damned horde.

Refrain x 2:
Let noble fury
Boil up like a wave
A people's war is going on,
A sacred war!

We'll give repulse to oppressors
Of all fervent ideas,
Rapists, robbers,
Tormentors of people.

Refrain

Black wings don't dare
To fly over the homeland;
Her vast fields
The enemy doesn't dare to trample.

Refrain

To the rotten fascist scum
We'll drive a bullet into the forehead,
For the rabble of humanity
We'll knock together a solid casket!

Refrain x 2

Violent much?

Theme from "Hunt for Red October"

composed by Basil Poledouris

Before I go on posting anymore music sung by the Russian Red Army Choir I decided to post the music that really increased my love for all things Russian and started my obsession with the RRAChoir ^_^

Here's further proof of my obsession with all things Russian

I drew this while I was supposed to be doing my history
homework, and of course inspired by the images in my textbook ;-)

Song of the Volga Boatmen

sung by Leonid Kharitonov & Russian Red Army Choir

Kharitonov's deep voice sends shivers down my spine followed by warm fuzzies =D

Remember my Forgotten Man from "Gold Diggers of 1933"

sung by Joan Blondell and Etta Moten

A depressing way to end a musical but it's a great and moving song. Reminds me of the following photograph taken during the Great Depression

The Bells of Notre Dame

from "The Hunchback of Notre Dame"

Photographs taken by my Sister and I on our trip to Paris. I must admit I was slightly disappointed in the size of the cathedral (JUST the size ^_~) but the architecture is spectacular and being the nerd that I am I played this music on my iPod while admiring the beauty of Notre Dame ^_^
